Famosas desfilan de rojo en Nueva York por el corazón

La legendaria actriz Linda Evans, recordada por su papel de Krystle Carrington en "Dinastía", las premiadas cantantes Gloria Estefan y Chaka Khan y la modelo Christie Brinkley fueron algunas de las estrellas que hoy desfilaron en Nueva York para concienciar sobre las enfermedades cardíacas que afectan más a la mujer.

La campaña "La verdad acerca del corazón" de los Institutos Nacionales de Salud, que celebró este año su décimo aniversario, contó con el apoyo de una veintena de famosas mujeres, entre las que figuraron además la editora de la revista Glamour, Cindi Leive, las actrices Idina Menzel, ganadora de un premio Tony, Jenna Elfman, Rebecca Romijn y Rose McGowan.

Las latinas estuvieron representadas por la famosa cantante Gloria Estefan, la presentadora del popular reality "Nuestra belleza latina" de la cadena Unvisión, Giselle Blondet, y la psicóloga Jeannette Torres-Álvarez, en representación de Discovery Familia, donde protagoniza una campaña educativa para alertar a las mujeres sobre las enfermedades del corazón.

Los diseñadores optaron este año por vaporosos y sensuales vestidos largos, otros ceñidos al cuerpo, talle imperio, strapples o de un solo hombro, todos muy femeninos, y realzados por el desenfado que mostraron las famosas en el evento, que se celebró un día antes del inicio de la Semana de la Moda en Nueva York.

"Me han invitado por muchos años y siempre estaba trabajando. Me hace muy feliz estar en este décimo aniversario", dijo a Efe la cantante cubana Gloria Estefan, quien cerró el desfile con un modelo de su compatriota y amigo Narciso Rodríguez, quien ha hecho varios vestidos para ella a lo largo de su carrera.

Recordó que el tema de las enfermedades del corazón le toca de cerca, ya que el padre de su progenitora murió frente a ella, tras haber sufrido cinco ataques cardíacos.

Además, destacó que "es importante que las mujeres nos enfoquemos en nuestra salud", ya que es la causa principal de muerte entre las latinas.

Estefan aseguró que está acostumbrada a subirse a un escenario, pero recordó que la última vez que estuvo en un desfile fue en su escuela, cuando tenía nueve años. "Desfilé en pijamas", rememoró entre risas.

La actriz y conductora de televisión Giselle Blondet, que lució un diseño del dominicano Oscar de la Renta ceñido al cuerpo y adornado con lazos a todo lo largo de la espalda, aseguró por su parte estar nerviosa aunque "emocionada" por participar en el evento "por una buena causa".

"Las mujeres nos enfocamos en el cuidado de nuestros hijos y en el trabajo y nos ponemos últimas en la lista de prioridades y no debe ser", dijo la puertorriqueña, quien mostró su vestido bailando y moviendo sus caderas al ritmo de la música, lo que provocó aplausos del público.

Otra que fue recibida con vítores fue la veterana de la pasarela Christie Brinkley, quien, sonriente, también se contoneó mientras mostraba su vestido de Pamella Roland.

Entre la lista de famosos de la moda que apoyaron hoy el desfile estuvo el brasileño Carlos Miele, cuyo diseño llevó la también puertorriqueña Torres-Álvarez, quien recordó que las enfermedades del corazón "son como una epidemia y tenemos que pararla. Por eso dije sí a una campaña que quiere cambiar el rumbo de este problema".

También apoyaron el evento con sus vestidos rojos los diseñadores Donna Karan, Marc Bouwer, Marchesa, Nicole Miller y Michael Kors, entre otros.

La esperada Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week de Nueva York se desarrollará entre el 9 y 16 de febrero, y hoy fue el corte de la cinta que marca el inicio del evento y que estuvo a cargo del jugador Víctor Cruz, estrella de los Giant, que esta semana obtuvieron el título del Super Bowl.

"Ha sido una semana increíble para la ciudad con el triunfo del Súper Bowl, el desfile el miércoles y ahora el comienzo de la Semana de la Moda", indicó el jugador.
